Here’s what the show at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden looks like. My statement is on the right side wall there as well as Louis Buhle’s bio. With 44 images total, we managed to take up the full gallery as well as the a few walls on the other side. I didn’t think we’d need that much space, but it was barely enough.

Found this corner scene at my old storage facility in uptown Brooklyn. The original color was pretty interesting but making it a black & white added that little extra bit I was looking for in the texture department.

Hi there. Just letting you know that this is my new website, based on a WordPress theme called Photocrati Emulsion. I thought I’d move to a WordPress template because it offers some easier ways for me to update on the fly, and it’s much simpler to maintain. We’ll see how it goes.

Not sure who took this shot, but I’m pretty sure this is somewhere on Lenox Avenue in uptown NYC. My grandpa (my dad’s dad) had a barber shop up there where, my dad once told me, he ran numbers. Apparently, that was the thing to do in those days.

I’m pretty sure my dad took this photo. Just a piece of a contact sheet, it’s small and quite damaged. I did some repair in Photoshop just to keep the damage from being a distraction, but I love the way this print is torn up a bit, and love that it’s just one frame from a contact print.

My mom had such presence in front of the camera, don’t you think?

This is my dad and me. He was a photographer so it’s possible he set up the camera and had my mom take this picture, or a friend of his could have taken it.

There aren’t many images with me and my dad that have survived the years, so this one is special.

What the hell am I looking at anyway?

Here’s my grandpa, Sgt. Harry Ritchie, of the Connecticut State Police, taken sometime in the late 1930’s to early 1940’s. Around that time, he received a letter from “Machine Gun School” indicating that he received a passing grade on the Browning M2 .50 caliber machine gun.

Total bad ass.

Finding more great images from my searches through my mother’s storage boxes. Figured I’d post these here and share them with everyone. There’s something about seeing these old images of me and my family which helps add to an overall collective historic context.

There’s a quality to the damage and the background in this image that I really like. Even the lighting coming almost directly from the front is great.

This is a picture my dad took of me. Not sure how old I was and not sure what I was about to do with that finger. But it’s a cute pic, I think. Found it as I was digging trough all my mom’s old images.
